Help Advance Our Mission

Biosafety Now began with no initial funding, relying solely on crowdfunding efforts. Despite operating on a limited budget, we have achieved significant progress thanks to the dedication of our leadership team members. However, when faced with a powerful special interest group with vast financial resources, volunteer work can only take us so far. This is why financial support is crucial for the success of our advocacy group. The more funds we raise, the greater our ability to bring about positive change.

EDUCATION

(1) Expand our website (www.biosafetynow.org) into the go-to website for information on all issues related to biosafety, biosecurity, and biorisk management, not just in the US, but also around the globe

  1. Create alternate versions of the website in different languages.
  2. Add sections dedicated to specific regions and/or nations
  3. Host a central repository for documents related to biosafety, biosecurity, and biorisk management—this would involve building a portal that allows members of the public to upload relevant documents
  4. Add a section dedicated to a thorough and accurate description of the history of the origin of the COVID-19 pandemic, including a section dedicated to media coverage of the origin
  5. Add sections containing complete and accurate descriptions of historically documented research-related spillovers
  6. Add sections containing complete and accurate descriptions of high-containment biolabs, select-agent research programs, and lab leaks associated with these facilities and/or programs
  7. Add sections dedicated to bioterrorism, bioweapons, and biodefense

(2) Host public forums, webinars, and Twitter spaces, that discuss issues related to biosafety, biosecurity, and biorisk management and explore how the history of high-risk research involving dangerous pathogens impacts present-day events

(3) Organize and promote conferences and workshops for scientists, health professionals, influencers, and journalists

AWARENESS

(1) Disseminate information through our website and social media accounts (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn)

(2) Use targeted advertising strategies aimed at individuals who hold positions of influence in policymaking

(3) Assist journalists, filmmakers, and other creators in producing informative content

(4) Engage lawmakers both on the local and federal level and offer specific proposals for how to strengthen oversight of high-risk research involving dangerous pathogens. (Notably, several members of our Leadership Team have testified before Congress on this issue)

OUTREACH

(1) Organize and promote letter writing campaigns

(2) Work with community activists to educate members of the community on the cost/benefits of high containment biolabs

(3) Mobilize support of other NGOs through our membership in civil society networks and/or through direct outreach
